Welcome to the Canadian Rugby Journal!
The Canadian Rugby Journal was created to fill a clear and longstanding gap in how rugby is covered in Canada. Despite a rich history, passionate community, and growing professional pathways, Canadian rugby has often lacked consistent, in-depth, and dedicated journalism. Too often, stories have gone untold, performances have gone unexamined, and the broader context behind success and struggle has been overlooked. This publication was founded to ensure the Canadian game is taken seriously, documented properly, and given the space it deserves.
We created the Canadian Rugby Journal to move beyond surface-level reporting and fragmented coverage. Our purpose is to provide independent, thoughtful analysis that captures the full picture of Canadian rugby, its players, its systems, its challenges, and its potential. By focusing on longform storytelling, historical context, and informed critique, we aim to preserve the game’s narrative while pushing conversations forward in a way that supports sustainable growth and accountability.
At its core, the Canadian Rugby Journal was founded for the community that has long supported the sport without always being reflected in mainstream media. It exists to connect past and present, grassroots and professional, men’s and women’s rugby under one credible platform. By giving Canadian rugby a consistent voice and identity, the Journal seeks not only to report on the game, but to strengthen its future by ensuring its stories are finally told with clarity, respect, and ambition.
